A jackpot slot is a slot with a prize that sits outside the normal paytable. You still spin the reels and collect ordinary line or cluster wins, but the game also offers one or more jackpot prizes that are won in a separate way: a set of special symbols, a bonus round, a random trigger or a deadline.
The jackpot can be fixed, meaning the prize is set in the rules, or progressive, meaning a share of each stake feeds a pot that grows until someone wins it. Some games combine both, with fixed lower prizes and a progressive top prize. The jackpot can belong to a single game, to one casino’s set of games or to a network of casinos all feeding the same pot. Those two choices, fixed or progressive and local or networked, decide how big the prize can get and how often it is likely to land.
If you want the mechanics in more depth, including seed values, the jackpot meter and what happens after a win, our guide to how a progressive pot builds and pays out explains each step.
Nine Jackpot Slots Listed at Our Ranked Casinos
These titles appeared in the lobbies of our ranked casinos when we checked them on 7 November 2026. We describe how each jackpot works rather than quote prize sizes, because live jackpot values change by the minute.

| Shining Crown | Amusnet | Jackpot game, as the casino’s terms classify it | Straightforward fruit reels many players already know | Spinfin |
A few practical notes on the list:
- Availability changes. Lobbies are updated constantly, and a game listed today may move or disappear. Search the lobby by name before you deposit for a specific title.
- Bonus money often does not count. Spinfin’s terms list Shining Crown among the jackpot games excluded from bonus play, and several casinos exclude jackpot slots from bonus funds altogether (see the table further down).
- Other jackpot titles we found. Crystalroll also lists Crown of Fire Jackpot Play from Pragmatic Play and Ozwin’s Jackpots and Jackpot Raiders from Yggdrasil; Snatch Casino lists Divine Fortune Gold, Mega Diamonds Jackpot and Jackrabbit Jackpots; Spinboss lists Lucky Lady’s Charm Deluxe, Tropical Pop Jackpot Play and 777 Strike; and the Buffalo Spins jackpot lobby has 64 progressive jackpot slots, among them Fluffy Favourites Jackpot, Sugar Train Jackpot, Stampede Jackpot and White Wizard Jackpot.
Six Kinds of Jackpot Slot
Progressive Jackpot Slots
A share of every qualifying stake goes into a pot that grows until someone wins it, then resets to a starting amount. These offer the biggest prizes and the longest odds, and the base game usually returns less because part of each stake feeds the pot.
Fixed Jackpot Slots
The top prize is written into the paytable, often as a multiple of your stake, and never grows. You know exactly what you are playing for, which makes fixed jackpots easier to weigh against your budget. Many hold-and-win games, such as Coin Strike: Hold and Win, use fixed jackpot prizes.
Local Jackpots
A local or in-house jackpot is shared across games at one casino or operator. Snatch Casino runs four site jackpots that drop at random, and Zombillion runs an operator jackpot on selected slots, advertised at up to £1,000,000, with both fixed and progressive jackpot types.
Network Jackpots
A network jackpot links the same game, or a family of games, across many casinos. Pooled contributions make these the largest jackpots in online slots. Mega Moolah and WowPot from Games Global, Mega Fortune and Hall of Gods from NetEnt and Dream Drop from Relax Gaming are well-known examples.
Must-Drop and Daily Drop Jackpots
A must-drop jackpot is set up to land by a deadline or before its meter reaches a cap. Red Tiger’s Daily Drop and Must Drop jackpots are the best-known examples, and Spinboss has a Daily Jackpots section in its lobby. Prize-drop promotions such as Pragmatic Play’s Drops & Wins work differently: they share a large prize pool across many daily tournament and weekly wheel prizes instead of one jackpot.
Slots with Several Jackpot Tiers
Many games carry several jackpots at once, usually named Mini, Minor, Major and Grand or similar. The lower tiers land relatively often; the top tier is the long shot. Divine Fortune with its three tiers and the Age of the Gods games are common examples.
Jackpot Slots vs Regular Slots
| Point | Regular slot | Jackpot slot |
|---|
| Top prize | A maximum win set by the paytable | An extra jackpot prize, fixed or growing |
| Where your stake goes | All of the RTP goes back through the base game and features | Part of the RTP may go to the jackpot pot |
| Base-game returns | Full RTP experienced through normal wins | Often lower between jackpots |
| Win pattern | Depends on volatility | Long dry spells are common, especially for the top tier |
| Bonus money | Usually allowed, subject to terms | Often excluded from bonus play |
| Game info to read | Paytable and RTP | Paytable, RTP split and jackpot rules |
The short version: a jackpot slot trades some of the everyday return for the chance of a much bigger prize. That trade suits some players and not others, which is why it pays to decide what you want from a session before you pick the game.
What Triggers the Jackpot in a Slot
Jackpot slots use a handful of trigger designs. The game’s information screen always says which one applies:
- Jackpot symbols on the reels. Five of a special symbol on a payline, or a set number anywhere, award the jackpot. Some older games only pay the top prize at the maximum stake.
- Coin collection and hold-and-win. Landing enough coin or cash symbols starts respins in which collected coins stay in place. Filling the grid or landing special coins awards a named jackpot.
- Jackpot wheels. A bonus wheel decides which jackpot tier you win, as in Mega Moolah.
- Pick-and-match boards. You reveal tiles until three matching jackpot symbols appear.
- Random or mystery triggers. The jackpot can land after any qualifying spin, whatever the reels show.
- Deadlines. A must-drop jackpot lands by a set time or before its cap.
None of these triggers can be influenced by when you play, how long you have played or how big the meter looks. They are decided by the game’s random number generator on each spin.
Fair Play Basics for Jackpot Slots
Online slots use a random number generator (RNG) to decide every spin. A certified RNG is tested by independent labs to show that results are random and that the game pays back in line with its stated RTP over a very large number of spins. That testing covers the game, not your session: it does not mean any individual session will return the RTP.
Two habits help you play with clear eyes:
- Read the RTP and the jackpot rules before you play. Snatch Casino’s game pages show the RTP and the maximum win for each title, Buffalo Spins shows RTPs in each game’s help screen, and Slotorado says RTP is shown in the game interface or help section. X3bet does not publish RTP per game on its own pages, so open the game’s information screen.
- Try a demo where you can. Many slots can be played in demo mode first. Jackpots are not paid in demo play, but it shows you how often the base game pays and how the jackpot round works.
Bonus Features and Casino Bonuses on Jackpot Slots
Inside the game, jackpot slots use the same features as regular slots: free spins, multipliers, expanding wilds and respins. Some features are where the jackpot lives, such as a hold-and-win round, while others simply pay ordinary wins on the way.
Casino bonuses are another matter. Five of our ranked casinos keep jackpot slots out of bonus play, and a sixth limits its own jackpot to real-money bets:
| Casino | What the terms say about jackpot slots and bonuses |
|---|
| Buffalo Spins | Bonus wagers cannot be placed on progressive jackpot slots |
| Flutterhall | Jackpot slots are excluded from bonus play |
| Spinboss | Jackpot slots cannot be played with bonus funds |
| Spinfin | Jackpot slots cannot be played with bonus funds; Amusnet and EGT jackpot games are excluded |
| X3bet | Jackpot slots cannot be played with bonus funds |
| Zombillion | Bonus money, free spins and promotional rounds do not qualify for the operator jackpot |
If jackpot slots are your main reason to sign up, keep a separate real-money budget for them, or consider whether a welcome bonus suits you at all. Our Spinboss review and our Flutterhall casino review show how these rules sit alongside each welcome package.
Matching a Jackpot Type to What You Want
| If you want | Look for | What you accept |
|---|
| Jackpots that land more often | Standalone, must-drop or the lower tiers of a multi-jackpot slot | Smaller prizes |
| A clear, known top prize | Fixed jackpots and hold-and-win games | No growing pot |
| The largest possible prize | Wide-area network progressives such as Mega Moolah | Extremely long odds and a thinner base game |
| Extra prizes on top of your usual slots | In-house jackpots and prize drops | Rules that vary by casino and qualifying bets |
| Lots of small and mid-sized wins | Multiple-jackpot slots with frequent lower tiers | The top tier stays a long shot |
Whichever type you choose, check two things in the game info: what stake qualifies for the jackpot, and whether a higher stake changes your chances. At Snatch Casino, for example, each site jackpot has its own qualifying bet, from £1 or more for the Small jackpot to £80 or more for the SND jackpot. You can compare Snatch Casino’s jackpot games and terms in our full review.
Setting a Budget for High-Volatility Jackpot Play
Jackpot slots tend to be high in volatility: long runs of small or no wins, broken by occasional larger ones. That makes budgeting more important, not less. A simple plan:
- Set a session budget first and treat it as the cost of the entertainment.
- Pick a stake that gives you enough spins. A rough guide is at least 100 to 200 spins per session, so a £20 budget points to stakes of 10p to 20p.
- Decide your stop points. Stop when the budget is spent, and decide in advance what you will do with any win.
- Do not raise the stake to chase a jackpot. A higher stake spends your budget faster for a small change in a very long shot.
- Know the payout rules before you play. Withdrawal limits can matter after a big win. Flutterhall and Spinchester say progressive jackpot wins are paid in full, while Slotorado’s UK terms limit withdrawals to £700 a day, £5,000 a week and £15,000 a month (its FAQ says there is no fixed daily limit) and do not say whether jackpots are exempt.
Before you deposit, make sure your account is verified so a large win is not held up by document checks. To compare welcome offers, withdrawal limits and scores across all ten casinos, see our jackpot casino comparison.
