Types of Microgaming Jackpot Games
Progressive Microgaming Jackpots
Every qualifying bet on a progressive game nudges its prize upwards, and the prize keeps rising until it is won, at which point it falls back to a seed. Microgaming’s flagship progressives are network jackpots: every casino that offers a Mega Moolah game feeds the Mega Moolah pots, and the same goes for WowPot, which is how the top tiers reach sums no single casino could fund. Both networks use the same basic design: a random draw on any qualifying spin can open a jackpot wheel, the wheel settles on one of four tiers, and the lower tiers land much more often than the top prize. Raising your stake tends to improve the odds of reaching the wheel, and the rules screen of each game sets out the precise rule.
Fixed Microgaming Jackpot Game Types
A fixed jackpot is a set prize, usually written as a multiple of your stake, that never grows. Many Games Global slots use named fixed prizes inside a bonus feature, for example coin-collect or hold-and-win rounds where landing special symbols awards a Mini, Minor or Major prize of a stated size. These games pay out more predictably than the networks because the top prize is known in advance and none of your stake goes into a shared pot. The trade-off is obvious: the ceiling is far lower.
Popular Microgaming Jackpot Slots
Mega Moolah: The Original Jackpot Wheel
Mega Moolah has been running since 2006 and is still the game most players picture when they think of Microgaming. It is a five-reel, 25-line safari slot with a straightforward base game: a lion wild that doubles the wins it helps to form, and monkey scatters that start free spins in which wins are tripled. The jackpot sits apart from all of that. At random, any qualifying spin can open the jackpot wheel, which stops on Mini, Minor, Major or Mega. In our list, the original game turns up in Slotorado’s lobby. For tactics, stakes and the wheel in more depth, see our Mega Moolah slot guide.
The Wider Mega Moolah Family
The Mega Moolah name has been added to many other base games over the years, including Atlantean Treasures Mega Moolah, Absolootly Mad: Mega Moolah, Mega Moolah Isis, Book of Mega Moolah and Agent Jane Blonde Mega Moolah. Each plays like its own slot, with a different theme, reel set and features, and adds the four-tier jackpot wheel on top. Two of them turned up in the lobbies we checked: Book of Mega Moolah at Mr Baron, and Agent Jane Blonde Mega Moolah at Snatch Casino, where it is credited to Stormcraft, one of the partner studios that release games through Games Global. Before you play a spin-off, open its rules screen: it states which jackpot pots the game feeds and pays from.
WowPot: The Newer Flagship
WowPot is the younger network, launched in the early 2020s with Wheel of Wishes and since joined by games such as Sisters of Oz WowPot and Book of Atem WowPot. It keeps four tiers and a wheel, but its top prize, the WowPot itself, begins life at a higher seed than the Mega. No game list we reviewed named a WowPot title, so run a search in the lobby before you deposit. Our full WowPot guide covers the tiers and the wheel in detail.
Major Millions and Cash Splash: The Older Style
Alongside, and before, the wheel-based networks, Microgaming ran many single-prize progressive slots. Major Millions and Cash Splash are the best-known examples: the top prize grew in the usual way, but landing it often required the maximum bet or every payline in play, plus a specific symbol combination. These older titles are harder to find today, and none of the lobby lists we checked named them. If you do find one, read the paytable first, because a reduced-stake spin may not qualify for the top prize at all.
Mega Moolah vs WowPot: Which Suits You?
| Point | Mega Moolah family | WowPot family |
|---|
| Age | Running since 2006 | Launched in the early 2020s |
| Top tier | Mega | WowPot, set up to start from a higher seed |
| Lower tiers | Mini, Minor and Major | Mini, Minor and Major |
| Trigger and wheel | Random trigger, four-tier wheel | Random trigger, four-tier wheel |
| Range of games | A large family built on many different base games | A newer and smaller range |
| In our checked lobbies | Slotorado (Mega Moolah), Mr Baron (Book of Mega Moolah), Snatch Casino (Agent Jane Blonde Mega Moolah) | No title named |
The mechanics are close enough that the choice usually comes down to two questions. Do you enjoy the base game? You will spend almost all your time in it. And does your casino actually carry the game? With Mega Moolah titles easier to find in our list, that family is the practical starting point for most players. The two networks pay from separate pots, so playing one never adds to the other.
How to Access Microgaming Jackpots Online
Where to Find Microgaming Jackpot Games in a Lobby
- Filter by studio. Try Microgaming and Games Global, then partner names such as Stormcraft, because lobbies file the same games under different labels.
- Search by name. Type Mega Moolah or WowPot into the lobby search; spin-offs carry the jackpot name in the title.
- Use the jackpot section. Slotorado has a Jackpot category of 3,724 games in its lobby data for the UK region, Snatch Casino’s Jackpot Games section listed 195 titles in its UK lobby, Betportal has a Jackpot Games category of 739 and a Jackpot feature filter, and Mr Baron and Slotroyals both have their own jackpot categories.
- Open the rules screen before you stake. Confirm the jackpot family, the tiers, the stake rule and the base-game RTP before you commit any money.
Lobbies differ by country and change over time, so a title listed when we checked may have moved or gone.
How to Choose a Microgaming Jackpot Slot
| What to check | Why it matters | Where to find it |
|---|
| Jackpot family | Mega Moolah and WowPot pay from separate pots, and fixed jackpots do not grow at all | The game name and its rules screen |
| Base game | It is what you play on almost every spin | A few low-stake spins, or demo mode where the casino offers it |
| Volatility | It decides how long your budget is likely to last | The game info screen |
| Stake rule | It shows whether stake changes the trigger chance or whether a minimum bet applies | The rules screen |
| Base-game RTP | It is the return you actually experience between jackpots | The game info; Snatch Casino and Betportal also show RTP on their game pages |
| Payout terms | They decide how a large win reaches you | The casino’s withdrawal terms, summarised below |
Casino Terms That Matter After a Big Win
A network jackpot lands in your casino balance; the casino’s own rules then decide how quickly and in what pieces it reaches your bank. These are the points we found for the six casinos in our list above:
| Casino | What the terms say | Limit worth knowing |
|---|
| Slotorado | Progressive-jackpot wins are paid ‘as quickly as possible based on payment processor availability’ | UK terms: £700 a day, £5,000 a week, £15,000 a month; the FAQ, by contrast, says there is no fixed daily limit |
| Snatch Casino | Withdrawals wait until the account is fully verified, and some are picked at random for extra checks | A cap of £380 per withdrawal and £750 a day, which only an agreement with a personal manager can raise |
| Mr Baron | Nothing is paid before identity, age and residence are verified; the terms say withdrawals are generally processed within 3 to 5 business days, while the banking page quotes 24 to 48 hours for bank transfer and crypto | Standard payouts are capped at £5,000 per account per month; players whose total deposits are £500 or less can withdraw no more than £500 |
| Slotroyals | Before any withdrawal the casino can ask for photo ID, proof of address, a selfie or a verification call | Withdrawals capped at £5,000 per 7 days and £15,000 per 30 days, with winnings limited to £100,000 a day |
| Betportal | Progressive jackpots sit outside the £100,000 cap on a single bet or spin | Daily and monthly limits rise with loyalty level, starting at £500 and £7,000 for Starter accounts; wins above an internal threshold can be split into instalments |
| Betninja | The terms pay progressive jackpot wins in full | Otherwise £4,000 a day, £16,000 a week and £50,000 a month, with a £100 minimum withdrawal |
The spread is wide. A monthly cap of a few thousand pounds can make a large win very slow to withdraw unless the casino agrees otherwise, while a clause that pays progressive jackpots in full avoids that problem. Our Slotorado casino review and Mr Baron review set out both casinos’ withdrawal rules in full.
Pros and Cons of Microgaming Jackpot Games
Pros
- Two established network jackpots with very large top tiers.
- A random trigger, so any qualifying spin can reach the wheel.
- Four tiers per network, with the smaller pots won regularly.
- A wide choice of base games, from the original safari slot to themed spin-offs.
- Fixed-jackpot games for players who prefer a known top prize.
Cons
- Jackpot contributions come out of your stakes, so the base game pays back less.
- The top tiers are extreme long shots.
- Older single progressives can tie the top prize to the maximum bet.
- The same game can sit under three different studio names, which makes it harder to find.
- Casino payout caps and checks still apply to a big win.
Tips for Playing Microgaming Jackpot Slots
- Pick a slot you would play anyway. The jackpot is a rare extra; the base game is what you actually get for your money.
- Read the stake rule. Network games usually let any qualifying stake reach the wheel; older progressives may not.
- Size your stake to your session. A £30 budget covers 100 spins at 30p or 30 spins at £1.
- Keep bonus play apart. Betninja counts jackpot games at 0% towards bonus wagering, and other casinos restrict which games count, so check before you use bonus funds.
- Check the payout terms before a big session. The table above shows how much they differ.
- Never treat a jackpot as due. Each spin is independent, and a long wait since the last winner changes nothing.
Games Global works with a group of partner studios, among them Stormcraft Studios, Alchemy Gaming, Triple Edge Studios, Gameburger Studios and Just For The Win. Many Mega Moolah and WowPot spin-offs come from these studios, so if your lobby lets you filter by studio, include their names in your search. Outside the Games Global family, other studios run their own jackpot systems with different rules: Relax Gaming’s Dream Drop has five tiers, Red Tiger uses daily must-drop jackpots and Pragmatic Play mixes in-game jackpots with prize-drop promotions. Our page on Pragmatic Play jackpot formats explains how those differ from a wheel-based network.
Safer Gambling
Gambling is for over-18s only (18+). Think of Microgaming jackpot slots as entertainment with a price, not a way to make money, since the top tiers go to very few players. Set a budget and a time limit before you play, pick a stake that suits both and never increase it to chase a wheel.
